Philo Art Space at Kemang Timur 90C, South Jakarta, exhibits artwotks of 7 painters. One of the painter, Dadang Imawan, attracts me with his used goods nostalgic fantasy. Most of Indonesian family would storage their used mattress somewhere hidden in the dark room, or in the never visit hut at the backyard. The mattress is folded, rolled, covered with dust, eventhough the mattress has its own memories of whatever happen upon it, from love, dying, to death. Dadang drags that dusty pillowy goods, into a joyful ironic hopes. One of his work that I featured here, 'Desire Object', dimension: 185x145cm, acrylic on canvas, depicts his mattress and a Teddy, is trying to say 'color your unwanted memories beautiful'.
