I’ve been feeling rather blue ever since the Jacko’s sudden passing. It feels like there’s something missing. Then, whenever I have spare time amid my hectic meeting after meeting, I run into one of my very favorite song: Man in the Mirror. It has beautiful meaning, “…If you wanna make the world, a better place, take a look at yourself, and then make a CHANCE…”. Thoroughly, this song brings me to the Jacko physical casing, a display of vulnerability, intimidating, tragic, and trapped on stage. This case reminds me of Francis Bacon hysterical work that reflected his obsession with the Diego Valázquez portrait of Pope Innocent X (1650). Francis Bacon brutal vision is intimidating, showing a figure who trapped in the dark with no prospect of relief.
When we see the Pope in Diego’s work, we can feel Pope’s insecure personality. Then Bacon uncovers Pope’s physical casing, let us see what he’s seen, the soundless and endless scream figure, a ‘Man in the Glass’, the scream that Jacko has, the scream that exist far deep in everybody’s soul. Francis Bacon and Michael Jackson live in alienated personality, dead in loneliness.
