Observing figure of someone we know or we don’t, is pretty entertaining for whom who has tendency to play seeing is believing game. This also occurs in the jungle of art, where visualization is dominated by ambiguity image, lack of constant figure and a bunch impression of lost in translation picture. Then we really enjoy spending time observing the figure of Fernando Botero ballooning figure, Francis Bacon scrambled physic, Yue Minjun happy faces, Norman Rockwell every day people, Edgar Degas corps of Ballerina, and Picasso cubism ladies like Les Demoiselles d’Avignon (1906).
We want a figure, absolutely, for measuring how resistances are we in our social and economic setting, for discovering the truth expression in symbolic form of human needs and desires. (Ahh, what a tiring words). There I found a figure of resistance, A Man of Java, who busy standing in between culture and today’s modernity climate. Created by GIRING PRIHATYASONO, exhibited in RUMAH JAWA, Jakarta. (rumahjawa.gallery@yahoo.com)
